Early Childhood Education Major with Ohio Teaching License

This is a terrific opportunity for adult students to enter a program in which they can earn two credentials: a Bachelor of Arts degree and an Early Childhood license.

Earn a Bachelor of Arts degree with:

  • A major in Early Childhood Education
  • An Ohio teaching license to work with students pre-school through Grade 3
  • Attend courses on weekday evenings and Saturdays
  • Study in a team approach with adult learners
  • Learn with faculty who have real-world teaching experience

Credits Leading to Graduation

To graduate from Antioch Midwest with a Bachelor of Arts degree, 180 quarter-credit hours are required. Upon application to our program, we assess your previous college transcripts. Of the 112 possible transfer credits, 90 may be lower division (generally 100 and 200 level) courses.

Early Childhood Education Major

Complete General Education Courses at Antioch University Midwest or Transfer in Equivalents.

Required ECE Education Areas of Study Include:

  • Human Development
  • Behavior Management & Conflict Resolution
  • Family, School and Community Relations
  • Teaching and Learning
  • Reading
  • Research and Assessment
  • Clinical Experience in PK-3 Classrooms

Areas of Employment Include:

  • Preschool Teacher
  • Head Start Teacher
  • Kindergarten - Third Grade Teacher in Public Schools
  • Preschool Director

With the addition of a Reading Endorsement, graduates will be eligible to be a Title l teacher in Grades K-12.
