Andrea Zavakos

A lifelong fascination with learning has taken Andrea Zavakos to faraway places and provided her with diverse work experiences. From a small town in Ohio, her travels have led her to a U.S. Naval base in Honolulu, Hawaii to Europe to Queens, New York and back again to the Dayton region. Her extensive travels have exposed her to different cultures and viewpoints, which serve her well in her role as Director of Brower Human Resources Consulting.

Andrea brings more than 20 years of human resources experience, a results-oriented style, and a strong focus on understanding and respecting individual perspectives to her clients. My focus is
on helping companies create the work environment, behaviors, and processes that will yield the right business results,” says Andrea. I am an easy-going person, but very action-oriented and
focused on finding solid solutions that positively impact an organization and its people.”

Andrea’s expertise in HR has developed through years of hands-on work in a wide range of manufacturing, distribution, sales and service industries. She takes pride in providing her clients with a competitive edge through such HR initiatives as employee relations, organizational and leadership development, executive coaching, talent management, recruiting and retention, compensation and career path programs, training, HR auditing, and developing employee handbooks and job descriptions. She also conducts workplace investigations and facilitates win-win resolutions to problems.

Driven by a strong work ethic, Andrea earned her BA in Psychology from Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii while serving full-time in the U.S. Navy. Following her honorable discharge from the service, Andrea earned an MBA in Total Quality Management from Dowling College, on Long Island, New York, commuting from her full-time HR job in Queens with Swingline Staplers. Andrea holds a Ph.D. from Antioch University in Leadership and Change. I’ve always been curious about what it is we see in people that causes us to place our faith in them as leaders,” says Andrea. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to study this question in great depth, I can offer another facet of HR expertise to my clients.” She is certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute as both a Global and Senior Professional in HR. Also, Andrea is an Executive Coach, having compled training through the College of Executive Coaching in Santa Barbara, CA. She returned to the Dayton region in 1992 and served in leadership positions for both small and large corporations before joining Brower HR Consulting in 2002.
