Individualized Master of Arts in Health & Human Development

Overview

The Individualized Master of Arts (IMA) concentration in the Social Sciences at Antioch University Midwest (AUM) provides students with the knowledge and competencies to develop careers in a variety of Adult Education, Applied Psychology and Health Care related fields. Towards this end students complete six already designed foundation courses. Following this sequence, under the guidance of an AUM faculty advisor and a mentor with subject matter expertise, students may create their own individualized courses in their chosen areas of specialization.

Students may focus on one of the following areas of study:

  • Psychology and Spirituality
  • Integrative Studies in Psychology
• Health and Wellness
  • Healthcare Consumer Advocacy, Certificate
• Integral Studies

  • Alternative Resident Educators License
    
• Management/Organizational Leadership
• Conflict Studies
• Sustainability Studies

Program Outcomes

• A commitment to social responsibility within one’s discipline or field

In addition, throughout the social science curricula, the following threads will be woven:

• Reading as a scholar-practitioner
• Developing graduate academic writing skills appropriate to one’s field or discipline
