Biographical Information
As a life long educator, Donna Parker has recently joined the Antioch University Midwest staff as an adjunct instructor in the Reading Endorsement Program.
Donna has been teaching elementary education in all subjects in grades 1-4 for the Beavercreek City School District for more than 30 years.
Upon graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1973 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Donna began her career as a tutor, reading specialist, substitute teacher and then was hired into a full time position as a second/third grade teacher. She continued her educational studies by receiving her Master’s Degree of Education from Wright State University in 1979. In addition to teaching all subjects, her strengths and main areas of concentration are in the Language Arts subjects along with a Minor in Music. In 1988, Donna received her Permanent Teaching Certificate from the State of Ohio and today continues to add semester hours every year by attending workshops and seminars to continue her educational journey.
Throughout her diverse teaching career, Donna has always believed in inclusion and integration of all students and each year her classes include students with special needs and students who are gifted. Along the way, Donna has had the opportunity to “loop” with several classes for a 2 year cycle for grades 3 and 4 and has had opportunities to team with other teachers to share and teach over 900 students.
In addition to teaching students, Donna serves on curriculum committees, course of study committees, and chairs many committees for her own school, Parkwood Elementary School in Beavercreek, Ohio. Donna has mentored many student teachers and new teachers and has been a featured speaker for the Beavercreek City School system and a workshop speaker for other districts.
