Life on campus at Antioch University Midwest
Welcome to Yellow Springs!
The Midwest campus of Antioch University opened in 1988 first as the School of Adult and Experiential Learning at Antioch College. Now known as Antioch University Midwest, the recently constructed campus is located in the charming and eclectic village of Yellow Springs. Antioch Midwest serves local residents, commuters and students from around the world. Learn more about the history of AUM here.
Antioch Midwest’s students are adults who seek a new direction in their careers or the mobility provided by earning an undergraduate or graduate degree. A diverse group of men and women ranging in age from 23 to 70, they share a serious determination to change their lives.
The AUM campus is a vibrant learning environment in which our adult students pursue their studies, develop their professional skills, and collaborate with their fellow students. You can find our hours of operation here and generally, our campus is open from 8:30 am to 10:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 7:30 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday. If you are considering becoming an Antioch student yourself, visit the Prospective Students page to learn more about admissions and our Information Sessions.
During the day, our classrooms, auditorium and other meeting spaces are often occupied by community meetings and organizations. You will find our students in class on weeknights, on Saturdays, and online, as our schedule is designed for busy adults leading full lives with their families, community, and professional endeavors.
When students are on campus, they have the option of studying in our well-stocked Library, or working with a writing specialist at the Bob Dizney Writing Center. They may be meeting with their classmates in the student lounge or in a classroom.
You’ll also find numerous free, enriching programming at night, running the gamut from wellness workshops to film screenings and panel discussions. Learn more about what is going on in our Calendar. The halls are decorated with beautiful art: on the first floor Antioch University Midwest houses the majority of the Yellow Springs Arts Council’s permanent collection as part of a special partnership. Visitors are invited to participate in an art scavenger hunt while they are on campus. On the second floor, we feature the artwork of local elementary, middle, and high school students from Yellow Springs. While most events are hosted on campus, others happen at venues around Southwest Ohio.
There is Online Campus Life, too!
The Masters programs for Individualized Master of Arts, Conflict Analysis and Engagement, and Management and Leading Change and now the newly created Individualized Bachelor of Arts are delivered through a hybrid online low residency model. This model provides students distance learning flexibility coupled with the support of established relationships built through the in person residency workshops. The residencies create connections between students and faculty that help to enrich online discussions in the Antioch Sakai platform. By studying independently, augmented by interaction and shared experience with your faculty and student peers you can approach your education in a manner that suits your lifestyle from nearly any location.
Come sit in on a class, browse our student resources, or attend one of our special community events to discover why AUM is such an exciting place to learn.
