Allan CombsAllan Combs, Ph.D.

Allan Combs is a Professor of Transformative Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies and director of the Integral Focus of the doctoral program. His background is in consciousness studies, neuropsychology, and systems science. He also holds appointments at the Saybrook Graduate School and the Assisi Conferences, and is Professor Emeritus at the University of North Carolina-Asheville as well as Co-Director of the Integral Studies program leading to an MA in Conscious Evolution at the Graduate Institute of Connecticut. Allan is author of over 100 articles, chapters, and books on consciousness and the brain, including The Radiance of Being (2ed): Understanding the Grand Integral Vision; Living the Integral Life, winner of the best-book award of the Scientific and Medical Network of the UK, with a foreword by Ken Wilber; Changing Visions: Human Cognitive Maps Past, Present, and Future, with Ervin Laszlo, Vilmos Csanyi, and Robert Artigiani; Chaos Theory in Psychology and the Life Sciences, edited with Robin Robertson; Nonlinear Dynamics in Human Behavior, edited with William Sulis; Synchronicity: Through the Eyes of Science, Myth, and the Trickster with Mark Holland; and Mind in Time: The Dynamics of Thought, Reality, and Consciousness, with Mark Germine and Ben Geortzel. Professor Combs is a co-founder of the Integral Foundation and The Society for Chaos Theory in Psychology and the Life Sciences, a member of The General Evolution Research Group, the Integral Institute, and the one hundred member Club of Budapest. He is Co-Editor of the Journal of Conscious Evolution, and Associate Editor of Dynamical Psychology.

Allan's recent book, Consciousness Explained Better, is available at major booksellers everywhere.

Allan was the winner of the 2002-2003 National Teaching Award of the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs, and in the same year the held the UNCA Honorary Ruth and Leon Feldman Professorship.

Bernie Mayer, Ph.D>

Bernie Mayer, Ph.D.

Dr. Bernie Mayer is an icon in the world of conflict resolution. With over a quarter century of experience in the field, he was a founding partner at CDR Associates, the internationally recognized mediation and conflict resolution organization, and originally trained as a psychotherapist. He has worked across the globe as a mediator, facilitator, teacher, trainer, dispute systems designer, and program administrator. A true scholar as well as leading practitioner in the field, Dr. Mayer is the author of many works including the book Beyond Neutrality: Confronting the Crisis in Conflict Resolution, and has taught courses for Harvard, University of Missouri, University of Colorado, Antioch University, the Budapest College of Economics, University of Warsaw, and Colorado State University, among others. He earned his Ph.D. in Social Work with an emphasis on conflict resolution.

Robert Kegan, Ph.D.Robert Kegan, Ph.D.

Dr. Robert Kegan is the William and Miriam Meehan Professor of Adult Learning and Professional Development, educational chair of the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). He lectures and consults widely within the United States and has been the recipient of numerous professional awards and honorary doctorates.

The author and lead researcher of a theory of the evolution of adult competencies, his books "The Evolving Self: Problem and Process in Human Development," and "In Over Our Heads: The Mental Demands of Modern Life" have been translated and published throughout the world.

William R. Torbert, Ph.D.William R. Torbert, Ph.D.

Dr. William R Torbert is Professor of Management at Boston College. He is both an academic and a practitioner having founded two organizations and been consultant to many others. His primary interests centre around the effective use of power by leaders in organizations, and how this might be developed. He is the originator of Developmental Frames for Leading and Managing. His work is founded on the long established developmental theory of Piaget, Loevinger and Kegan, and others. Torbert advocates an integration of action and inquiry through the deployment of cycles of inductive learning using both the first and second person forms of research, as well as the more conventional third person form.
