Lee Morgan to Speak at Antioch University
McGregor 2003 Commencement
YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio, May
9, 2003—Lee Morgan will deliver the Antioch University McGregor
commencement address at the 2003 graduation ceremony, which will be held
on July 20, 2:00pm, at the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts
Center in Dayton. The first graduation to be held at the Schuster Center,
this year’s keynote is giving back to the community in terms of
service and leadership.
Lee Morgan is President
and CEO of the Antioch Company, a business founded by his father in 1926.
When Lee joined the Antioch Company in 1968, there were about 30 employees
and revenues of nearly $300,000 annually. Demonstrating his strong commitment
to justice and equality, Lee helped convert the company to an employee
owned business in 1979. Today, the Antioch Company employs over 1,200
people in four manufacturing locations with offices in five states and
six foreign countries. Revenues in 2002 were over $350 million.
Charitable contributions
from the Antioch Company totaled over $3 million last year. In addition
to his commitment to philanthropy, Lee has provided leadership and service
to more than a dozen non-profit and corporate boards, including Culture
Works, Friends Care Center, Dayton Amateur Soccer League, WYSO, Yellow
Springs Instruments, Inc. and the Direct Selling Education Foundation,
as well serving as an Antioch University trustee for thirteen years.
The Morgan family has
been an integral part of Antioch University’s history. Both Lee
and his father, Ernest Morgan, graduated from Antioch. In addition, Lee’s
grandfather, Arthur Morgan, Antioch President from 1920-36, introduced
the concept of cooperative education, a major innovation in higher education.
Antioch University McGregor is particularly delighted to have Lee address
the graduates in this significant year, sesquicentennial, in Antioch’s
rich history.
For 150 years, Antioch
