McGregor
Creates a Customized Master of Arts in Management Degree for Community
College Administrators
YELLOW
SPRINGS, OHIO October
21, 2000 Antioch University McGregor is researching the possibility
of establishing a tailored specialization within the Master of
Arts in Management program for current and aspiring community
college managers
and administrators. This community college concentration will
provide students with a solid foundation in the traditional management
disciplines:
marketing, finance, accounting, and economics, while focusing
on issues relevant to community college professionals.
The curriculum will reflect the current research and best practices in the
field of management. To address the needs of community college professionals,
the community college arena will be incorporated into the curriculum, through
case study analysis. In addition, the curriculum will include coursework in
the areas of the history and mission of the community college, community college
finance, the community college curriculum and student population and leadership
within the community college.
Through a partnership with the League for Innovation, a major consortium in
North America specifically committed to improving community colleges through
innovation, experimentation, and institutional transformation, McGregor is
obtaining input from potential students of the program. Results are expected
to be ready by March 2001 and the first offerings available by winter 2002.
