YELLOW SPRINGS OH – Antioch University Chancellor Felice Nudelman has named Dr. Karen Schuster Webb the next president of the university’s Midwest campus in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She will join the university on November 1 and initially serve as provost and vice president of academic affairs. As of January 1, 2014, Dr. Webb will formally assume the presidency when current President Dr. Ellen Hall retires.
“Dr. Webb brings to our Midwest campus a wealth of experience from across the country and around the globe. She has significant experience working with adult learners, building partnerships in the community, creating meaningful academic programming, and fundraising. She also cares deeply about the mission of Antioch University and is an example of an individual that has lived this mission through her work, leadership and service,” Chancellor Nudelman said. “I want to thank the search committee for their fine work in helping us select Dr. Webb and I am very excited about having her join our senior team.”
Dr. Webb is a highly experienced administrator who has served in senior level leadership positions of progressive academic institutions, many of which have focused on adult learners. Since 2000, she has worked for Alliant International University, a private nonprofit institution that focuses on graduate education and includes multiple campuses in California and abroad. From 2000 to 2009, she was a professor and the founding university dean of the Shirley M. Hufstedler School of Education. From 2009 to present she has served as associate provost for community engagement.

Prior to joining Alliant International University, Dr. Webb held teaching and academic leadership positions at Southern University and A&M College, the University of Kentucky, Howard University, George Washington University, Indiana University-Bloomington, and Coppin State University. She earned a PhD in applied linguistics: English education, a master of science degree in education, urban and overseas English, and a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish from Indiana UniversityBloomington.
Dr. Webb has been a leader in her fields of study and has spoken at conferences nationally and internationally. She has published numerous articles on urban education and teaching, bilingual education, and speaking and writing. Additionally, she has been very active with professional organizations and currently serves on six boards and as the World Council of Curriculum and Instruction’s representative to
the United Nations Department of Public Information.
